Mortgage Assistant Vice President

As an Assistant Vice President, Mortgage Operations within the Private Bank Mortgage Operations team, you will lead the end-to-end mortgage origination operating rhythm for a portfolio of complex loans.
You will partner closely with stakeholders across the origination lifecycle to ensure accurate execution, effective risk management, and timely funding.
You will coach and develop an operations team, promote strong controls, and raise service quality through process improvement.
You will help deliver an exceptional client experience through clear communication and reliable follow-through.
Job responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end mortgage origination operations from initial file intake through closing and funding.
Oversee daily pipeline management, prioritization, and issue escalation to support on-time delivery.
Review complex files and apply subject matter expertise to nonstandard income, asset, and collateral scenarios.
Partner with underwriting, processing, closing, and mortgage solutions teams to remove blockers and improve handoffs.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and control standards throughout the origination lifecycle.
Maintain quality control standards, including documentation accuracy and audit readiness.
Manage and develop an operations team through coaching, performance management, and skill building.
Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions and sustainable process improvements.
Produce clear status updates and metrics to support transparency and decision-making.
Provide management coverage as needed, including serving as a backup for senior leadership.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Ten years of mortgage operations experience.
Five years of people leadership experience in an operations environment.
Demonstrated experience managing complex mortgage files across the origination lifecycle.
Working knowledge of mortgage regulatory and compliance requirements and operational controls.
Proven ability to manage a pipeline, prioritize competing deadlines, and resolve escalations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements while maintaining quality and controls.
Proficiency with mortgage origination systems and operational reporting tools.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Experience supporting a private bank or wealth management client segment.
Experience using data visualization tools for operational reporting (for example, Tableau or Power BI).
Experience partnering with technology teams to improve mortgage workflow tools and automation.
Project management experience supporting operational transformation initiatives.
