What are the Roles and Responsibilities?
The Boiler Supervisor is responsible for overseeing boiler operations to ensure efficient steam generation, fuel management, and compliance with environmental and safety regulations. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, this role involves monitoring boiler performance, supervising personnel, and implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
What are the Roles and Responsibilities?
- Boiler Operations Oversight:
- Supervise and coordinate daily boiler operations to ensure optimal steam production and energy efficiency.
- Monitor boiler performance, steam pressure, and fuel consumption to maintain operational standards.
- Implement best practices to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
- Equipment Maintenance and Repairs:
- Oversee maintenance, cleaning, and repair activities for boilers, turbines, and auxiliary equipment.
- Identify potential equipment failures and coordinate timely repairs with the maintenance team.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance programs.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Supervise boiler operators and technicians, ensuring adherence to operational guidelines.
- Conduct shift briefings to communicate operational priorities and safety protocols.
- Provide training and development opportunities to improve team performance.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental policies, and company procedures.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments to prevent workplace hazards.
- Promote a strong safety culture through regular safety training and awareness programs.
- Process Optimization:
- Analyze boiler performance data to identify areas for improvement.
- Optimize steam generation processes to align with milling and production requirements.
- Support initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with maintenance, planning and engineering and production teams to ensure seamless plant operations.
- Report boiler performance, challenges, and corrective actions to the Boiler Manager.
- Maintain effective communication across shifts to ensure smooth handovers.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with preference for licensure.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in boiler operations.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of boiler operations, steam generation, and fuel management.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, process optimization, and efficiency improvement techniques.
- Leadership and Communication Skills:
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and drive operational excellence.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate across departments and resolve operational challenges.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
- Strong analytical skills to identify root causes of operational inefficiencies.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure to maintain steam supply continuity.
- Safety and Compliance Focus:
- Comprehensive understanding of safety and environmental regulations for boiler operations.
- Commitment to fostering a safe and compliant working environment.
- Continuous Improvement Mindset:
- Experience in implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends in boiler operations.
