Buyer

A. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Initiates quote process for services, supplies and equipment. 

2. Consults with users to develop specifications. 

3. Prepares and process purchasing forms such as purchase orders; makes recommendations regarding purchases. 4. Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers. 5. Monitoring all open purchase orders throughout the ordering and delivery process 

6. Ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing product 

7. Determines and develops appropriate sources of supply and maintains professional a relationship with all key suppliers to stay current with trends and technologies, products and services. 

8. Reconciles stores inventory. 

9. Develop strategies and identify buying trends to keep the business profitable. 

10. Search available products to find the best combination of quality, price, and delivery 

11. Negotiate policies and contracts with various suppliers 

12. Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems trace shipments and follow up undelivered goods. 

13. Monitor stock levels and verify purchase requisitions 

14. Identify damaged or defective goods and work out an alternative solution with the supplier 

15. Maintain professional relationships with all key suppliers 

16. Budgeting, costing and cost saving after reviewing the purchased items 

17. Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories. 

18. Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or futures markets. 

19. Attend various conferences, supplier plants, and vendor interviews to stay informed about changes and advancements in the industry.

 

B. JOB SPECIFICATIONS 

I. Educational Background: Graduate of Industrial Engineering, Electronics Communication Engineering, or any business-related degree 

II. Experience: a. Related experience in interfacing with suppliers is a plus

                         b. Experience in buying/ purchasing a variety of general and specialized items, shipping and receiving

 

III. Knowledge, Skills and Attitude: 

a. Excellent analytical skills and possesses good problem-solving attitude 

b. Strong negotiating skills 

c. Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word 

d. Ability to work well with a team and establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, colleagues, suppliers, and customers. 

e. Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment 

f. Inclined to Continuous Improvement Initiatives 

g. Highly organized with strong attention to detail, and superior follow-up and follow-through skills.
