Merchandising Manager

Over all Job Purpose:

  • To plan, supervise and implements all merchandise- related activities necessary to achieve departmental sales, inventory and profitability goals. Responsible for all negotiations/transactions made by the department and oversees the whole Merchandising Team.
  • To set directions and task to ensure replenishments of merchandise to drive service, sales and gross margin.
Coordination/Communication: 
  • Conducts recruitment and negotiation to prospective suppliers. 
  • Conducts regular consultation with the suppliers to address concerns on sales performance, deliveries, promotion, etc. 
  • Maintains collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with suppliers. 
  • Coordinates with Merchandising Team regarding merchandise price and merchandise mix. 
  • Conducts Store Visitation/BET, Branch Visit, Stockroom/Warehouse visit to ensure the competitiveness and consistency of merchandise.
  • Coordinates with the Operations group as regards Inventory, Display, Promotion, Price Changes, Personnel’s concerns and other information about customer needs and preferences.
Analysis/Problem Solving: 
  • Effectively monitor and analyze sales performance of merchandise in terms of sales and profitability. 
  • Evaluates merchandise mix, adequate merchandise assortment and competitive prices. 
  • Analyzes and studies profitability of merchandise in terms of sales, area productivity and stock inventory level performance. 
  • Evaluates existing and new suppliers and updates price and cost of merchandise.
 Planning: 
  • Prepares seasonal buying plan, setting stock management with the buyer and creates a range planning framework. 
  • Plans sales promo, approves all markdown plans and gives recommendation to Deputy Head and SVP for approval. 
  • Develops the merchandise through new and existing suppliers, clearly defining and implementing strategies to maximize value and performance.
 Administration and Management:
  • Formulates and oversees the implementation of terms and conditions with the suppliers.
  • Offers guidance, mentoring and coaching to the team. 
  • Sets direction and task among Buyers. 
  • Trains, motivates and develops team to ensure effective performance to achieve excellence output.

  • Graduate of any business course
